Two Spring Lectures Sponsored by The Clinton Historical Society

Shore Line Electric Railway Lecture on Sunday, March 7, 2010
2010 is the 100th anniversary of the coming of Shore Line Electric Railway to Clinton and the rest of the shoreline. E.C. Schroeder will present a lecture on the construction, impact, and disappearance on Sunday March 7th at 2 pm in the Community Room at Henry Carter Hull Library in Clinton. E.C. Schroeder, who has presented several lectures in the past on topics relating to Clinton history such as railroads, maps, and photographs will use newspaper articles, photographs, maps to describe this fascinating chapter in Clinton’s history.


Eliot Ironworks Lecture on Sunday, April 11, 2010
Our second spring lecture is on colonial ironmaking and the Eliot Ironworks in colonial Killingworth will be held on Sunday April 11th at 2 pm at the Community Room at Henry Carter Hull Library in Clinton. Robert Gordon, senior research scientist at Geophysics at Yale University and Michael Raber, consultant in industrial history and cultural resource management and owner of Raber Associates, have written extensively on colonial ironmaking and recently published an article in Connecticut History on Jared Eliot and ironmaking in colonial Connecticut.
